Location: New Orleans (Bywater)    Type: Full Time (50+ hrs)


Bar Manager

Bacchanal is looking for an energetic, passionate and hardworking Bar Manager to lead the bar staff in a bustling nerve center of the Bywater community. The Bar Manager is responsible for the planning and direction of the bar which involves bar management including but not limited to ordering, scheduling and inventory, supervising and training of the bar staff and creative problem solving at a moment’s notice. Curating a bar menu with innovative, delicious cocktails, executed impeccably in a high volume, high stress environment while keeping costs low is key. 

The Bar Manager must be inventive and adaptable and inspire their staff to go above and beyond the expectations of their particular roles. Although we are a limited service eatery, we take hospitality very seriously and expect all of our staff to have a genuine love of people and a serious passion for wine culture and al fresco dining. This is truly a team environment with no barrier between “Front” and “Back” of the house so the ideal candidate is a natural leader who is capable of managing a team with kindness, respect and accountability.

Required Skills

  • Passion for food, cocktails, beer & wine!!!

  • Strong  Management skills such as bar costing, purchasing, scheduling & inventory 

  • Mad bartending skills

  • Knowledge of classic cocktails a MUST!

  • Strong knowledge of liquor & beer 

  • Basic knowledge of wine and wine regions

  • Impeccable oral and written communication and organizational skills

  • Team player and team builder

  • Superior Leadership skills with master delegation abilities

  • Work ethic of a Beast

  • Professional Restraint (There’s a lot of good wine and liquor around here…you will definitely be tested on this)

  • Must be able to work on your feet for long hours, reach, bend & stretch, easily navigate stairs & lift carry up to 50 lbs.

The bar manager purchases and oversees all beer, liquor and non-alcoholic beverages. Although they work with wine and must have a basic knowledge of wine, there is a separate manager that purchases all wine.


5 Years minimum of craft cocktail bar & restaurant experience

2 years management experience

Proficient in Microsoft Office, (specifically spreadsheets) Google Docs a plus

Proficient in Bar costing



Competitive depending on experience


Applicant will be required to Stage and create and execute cocktails as part of the Interview process.
